Amesbury approves MVRTA Bus Route 51 reroute to Heritage Towers

Traffic & Transportation Committee · Meeting of January 11, 2022

Amesbury approves rerouted bus service to underserved senior housing. The Traffic and Transportation Committee unanimously approved modifications to MVRTA Bus Route 51, redirecting the bus from Sparhawk Street through Main Street and Wells Avenue to better serve Heritage Towers and adjacent businesses and schools. The change requires tree clearing at two intersections, installation of four no-parking signs to accommodate the bus turning radius, and creation of a new bus stop with shelter at Wells Avenue and Goddard Avenue in front of the Amesbury Health Center.

The City plans a free ride day and joint promotion campaign to encourage ridership.
