Amesbury Charter Review Commission Orders Technical Review First

Amesbury Charter Review Commission unanimously establishes two-phase plan to revise town Charter. The seven-member commission, meeting virtually on June 25, approved Vice Chair Jonathan Sherwood's proposal to start with technical corrections before moving to policy changes. Chair Nick Wheeler will prepare a report on proposed technical modifications for commission consideration, while staff liaison Paul Fahey will solicit three weeks of input from city boards, commissions, and department heads.
The commission identified specific Charter sections addressing petition processes, board residency requirements, mayoral terms, and financial planning as priority review areas.
