Amesbury Lakes Commission backs fertilizer-application guidance letter. The Lakes and Waterways Commission unanimously voted to renew a recommendation that the city distribute a letter to local lawn care companies regarding fertilizer application requirements and their impact on local waterbodies, with Commission member Cindy Roberts making the motion and Kate Mallory seconding it. Acting DPW Director Peter Manor reported that work on a 604(b) grant-funded watershed-based water quality restoration plan is progressing toward a June 2023 target completion date, and that a beaver dam established downstream of the Newton Road Weir in the Powwow River is being monitored.
