Amesbury Recreation Department settles into new home at 62 Friend Street and opens fall program registration.

AMESBURY -- The Amesbury Recreation Department has relocated from its former offices at the Costello Transportation Center to the recently vacated former City Hall building at 62 Friend Street, which will operate under the name "Town Hall Annex," or "The Annex" for short, the department announced on its website.

TOWN -- The Recreation Department, whose stated mission is "to provide social, physical, recreational, educational and cultural programs and opportunities to Amesbury's residents at an affordable cost," has posted its fall program lineup. Fall Youth Programs include Basketball for grades 6-8, Mondays Oct. 5 through Nov. 23 (skipping Oct. 12) from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., along with non-athletic offerings such as Elementary Theater, Intro to Aerospace, Middle School Theater and Teen On-Camera Acting. The department says more programs are "coming soon" and directs residents to register at amesburyrec.com. Contact information lists Kathy Crowley as director and Christopher Lull as assistant recreation director.

COMMUNITY -- The department's Fall Adult Programs schedule includes Adult Coed Volleyball on Thursdays, Aug. 20 through Sept. 10, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., with a second session Tuesdays Sept. 15 through Oct. 20; Paddling (kayak, SUP, sail) at Camp Kent on Thursdays, Sept. 10 through Oct. 15; Adult Tennis on Tuesdays, Sept. 8 through Oct. 13; Intro to Acting on Tuesdays, Oct. 6 through Nov. 10; and Adult Coed Pickup Soccer on Thursdays, Sept. 17 through Oct. 22.
