Board approves variance for single-family home on Fern Avenue.

Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of January 22, 2026

Amesbury Zoning Board unanimously approves variance for 68A Fern Avenue single-family home. Chair Sharon McDermot and four voting members backed the renewal of a 2018 variance that lapsed due to pandemic-related construction delays; the property is 15 inches short of required lot-width frontage. Applicants Todd Fitzgerald and Michael Flanagan reported all other permits in place and no changes to the original proposal.

The board found the lot shape constituted hardship, with no detriment to neighborhood or public good.
