Amesbury Charter Review Commission elects leadership at inaugural meeting. Seven commissioners including Chair Nick Wheeler, Secretary Peter Frey, and Vice Chair Jonathan Sherwood were sworn in with support from Mayor Gove and the Collins Center at UMass Boston. The Commission will meet biweekly through October and deliver charter recommendations to the City Council by November 2020.
A Home Rule Petition will then be filed with the state Legislature by January 2021, aiming to place the revised charter on the November 2021 election ballot.
