AMESBURY — City Council approves Conservation Commission appointment, FY27 budget referral. The council unanimously approved the appointment of Brian Higgins to the Conservation Commission for a term expiring February 28, 2029, and referred Mayor Kassandra Gove's proposed FY27 operating budget totaling $84,704,738 to the Ad Hoc Budget Committee of the Whole. The budget represents a 0.56 percent increase over FY26, uses $1 million in Free Cash to balance, and allocates $513,316.36 for capital expenditures while leaving $159,879 in remaining levy capacity.
Second reading and public hearing are scheduled for June 9, 2026.
