City Council · Meeting of March 4, 2026
Amesbury City Council advances budget and appointments in streamlined session. The council unanimously approved eight mayoral reappointments to municipal boards and committees and passed 14 budget, grant, and capital orders, with the notable exception of an order to appropriate $100,000 from Free Cash for new City Hall supplemental items, which Councilor Stanganelli moved to March 10. The council voted 7-1 to rescind acceptance of MGL Chapter 90 section 20A½ in favor of Chapter 90 section 20A, with Councilor Mandeville opposed; the change is intended to allow future exploration of mail-based parking violation enforcement.
Grant orders totaling $91,983 from the North Shore HOME Consortium for homeowner housing rehabilitation and several state earmarks for document digitization, Chromebooks, and parking study phase two all passed unanimously. The council also unanimously approved a $200,000 appropriation from Free Cash to the General Stabilization Fund.
