Amesbury Historical Commission approves two permits; flags bylaw gap. The commission unanimously approved Historic Preservation Special Permits for 29 Water Street and 9 Oakland Street, with the former specifying Matthews Brothers windows with black trim and Maybach natural shakes. Discussion of 394 Main Street, where a property owner exceeded permitted work scope, prompted commissioners to address demolition-bylaw gaps, a months-long review including examination of Newburyport's ordinance language.
The commission unanimously authorized Acting Chair Jay S. Williamson to draft a support letter for Duxbury's Powder Point Bridge restoration, eligible for federal preservation funding. Steven Klomps announced his retirement after 24 years on the commission.
