Commission updates watershed concerns, moves forward on grant work.

Amesbury Lakes and Waterways Commission addresses watershed water quality challenges. Tom Murphy, acting chair, reported that above-normal water levels caused by heavy rain have decreased raw water quality, requiring increased chemical treatment at the drinking water plant; the DPW plans an aggressive drawdown of Abtash and Meadowbrook by late August. The commission approved a Quality Assurance Project Plan for the 604(b) Grant and will coordinate stormwater site visits.
Michael Ebert noted the Conservation Commission will review the proposed solar farm on the Vynorious parcel for stormwater runoff concerns. The lake's invasive weed treatment remains postponed due to high water levels and the need to isolate the lake from the water treatment source.
