Committee backs Elm Street transfer to full council vote

Amesbury planning committee sends Elm Street transfer to full council. The Planning and Development Committee voted unanimously to advance 2024-164, an order rescinding Bill 2019-042 and formally accepting a portion of Elm Street as a city public way, following a year-long state-initiated adjustment delayed by turnover in the Department of Public Works. DPW Director Joe Buckley explained the state will retain a section near Route 110 while assuming ongoing maintenance responsibility.
The committee also unanimously continued an ordinance to expand the Renewable Energy Development Overlay District to February 19, noting the Planning Board has not yet made a recommendation.
