City Council Standing Committee of the Whole · Meeting of July 21, 2026

Amesbury City Council Standing Committee unanimously approved four orders and returned them to the full City Council with positive recommendations. The committee backed a $1.6 million purchase of two fire pumpers, the first trucks built specifically for Amesbury since 2001, after Fire Chief Rob Serino explained that Engines 2 and 3 are no longer usable. The committee also approved a $48,000 transfer from Water Retained Earnings to cover unexpected employee retirements that will eliminate the overnight shift, and a $15,000 transfer from Budget Reserve to fund a full-time Public Health Nurse position.

A final order declared various municipal vehicles and equipment surplus for scrap auction.
