Amesbury Lakes and Waterways Commission votes to challenge solar farm watershed impact. The commission voted unanimously at its May 18 virtual meeting to direct Acting Chair Tom Murphy and member Cindy Roberts to draft a letter to the Planning Board, Town Council, and Mayor opposing a planned solar farm adjacent to Meadowbrook Pond; the commission's concern focuses on stormwater runoff, phosphorus loading, and the risk of cyanobacteria blooms in the town's drinking water supply area. The farm has been sited by Syncharpha to avoid Conservation Commission jurisdiction.
The commission also received an engineer's update noting debris removal needs at Stateline Dam and a potential blockage at Arch Brook Culvert.
