Lakes Commission appoints interim harbormaster amid membership vacancies

Lakes and Waterways Commission · Meeting of September 21, 2023

AMESBURY — Lakes and Waterways Commission names interim harbormaster while three seats sit vacant. Chief Craig Bailey will serve as interim harbormaster pending a permanent hire. Acting Chair Tom Murphy offered the permanent chair position to the four attending members, but none accepted.

Murphy said he would contact city officials about the three vacancies created after member Matt Chapin requested not to be re-appointed. Meanwhile, the commission postponed a Lake Ahtash phosphorus-removal pilot project to 2024, and canceled the annual invasive weed treatment due to high water levels.
