Lakes Commission defers weed treatment as MS4 compliance work begins

AMESBURY — The Amesbury Lakes Commission reviews stormwater compliance needs and defers Lake Attitash weed treatment. The Lakes and Waterways Commission heard from Director of Public Works Joseph Buckley, who reported that the city is working to establish funding for Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System compliance, with significant effort required for full implementation. Cindy Roberts reported that the annual invasive weed treatment at Lake Attitash will not occur this year due to high water levels, with the phosphorus removal pilot project remaining delayed.
Bernadette Lucas noted water quality concerns at Lake Gardner associated with an increased goose population.
