Library Board approves FY27 budget with two new positions
Library Board of Trustees · Meeting of February 11, 2026
Amesbury Library Board approves $5,000 facilities boost, advances budget with two new positions. Chair Makeighlee Marstaller and six trustees unanimously approved an additional $5,000 for facilities (raising the request to $8,500 after the city had cut it to $3,500) and advanced a FY27 budget that includes filling a vacant 18-hour Administrative Assistant and adding an 18-hour Circulation Assistant. Director Aimie Westphal warned that staffing has declined 53 hours since 2019 and that further cuts risk loss of state certification, which would disqualify the library from state construction grants for at least a year.
The board also unanimously approved revised Community Information Board and Museum Pass policies, and reported January book-store fundraising fell short due to weather-related closings.
