Municipal Solid Waste Working Group sets monthly meeting schedule.

Amesbury's Municipal Solid Waste Working Group established monthly meetings on the third Tuesday and began early-stage planning to shift trash pickup costs from the city levy to resident fees. Chairperson Bill Messner led the March 17 meeting, where City Energy Manager Dave Johnson presented data showing trash and recycling costs are expected to exceed $2 million in fiscal year 2027, up 3 percent from the prior year. The working group discussed options for reducing organic waste from the trash stream and reviewed state grant opportunities; all topics are scheduled for continued development at monthly meetings.
