Amesbury Planning Board approves MacDaddies sign, hears three historic-preservation preapplications. The board unanimously approved a screen-printed sign at 36 Main Street for MacDaddies. The 230 Main Street project proposes preserving a 1745 house and constructing 68 total residential units across five buildings on 1.85 acres, with 70 parking spaces and 300 new plantings; board members raised concerns about parking distribution and density calculations.
The 2 Elmwood Street project would preserve a 1891 Victorian and construct a single-family home on a split lot; the board praised it as a strong use of the historic-preservation special permit. The 19 Prospect Street project would restore an 1870 structure and create a three-unit Greek Revival building; members called it a major neighborhood improvement. All three preapplications will advance to formal filing pending further refinement.
