Traffic Committee Approves Three Outdoor Dining Plans; Denies Fourth on Safety
Traffic & Transportation Committee · Meeting of April 21, 2022
Amesbury Traffic and Transportation Committee approves outdoor dining for three restaurants, rejects one on safety. The committee voted to permit The Morning Buzz, Barking Dog, and Silvaticus to operate outdoor seating this spring, but rejected an application from Wise House Coffee Roasters at 15 Friend Street. The Traffic Review Commission voted unanimously against the Wise House application, citing traffic safety concerns on Friend Street.
Committee member James Nolan noted the TRC viewed the parking spaces as a convenience rather than a necessity. Councilor Nick Wheeler expressed concern about denying an application the city had previously approved twice. The committee also voted unanimously to recommend that the City Council make five temporary 15-minute parking spaces permanent.
