Amesbury Parent Warns School Committee of Mask Noncompliance Campaign at August Meeting
AMESBURY -- August 18, 2021, An Amesbury parent threatened the School Committee at its August 18 meeting over the district's mask requirement, warning members she would work to publicly expose personal information about them and that a growing parent group would refuse to comply with school masking rules. Jessica Pereira, of 283 Elm Street, told the board she leads a group holding biweekly meetings that gained 30 followers in two days and said, "We will not comply" if masks are enforced in schools this fall. She warned that daily non-compliance would become expensive for the district and directed committee members toward their upcoming re-election contests, noting their political opposition. No votes were taken in the recorded portion of the meeting.
